Women’s Philanthropic Fund
…the heart of Meridian

The mission of the Women’s Philanthropic Fund is to educate women in Monmouth and Ocean counties about the importance of heart health and to raise funds for heart programs, services and technology at Meridian Health, which includes Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Ocean Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center, and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital.

Each year the Women’s Philanthropic Fund board selects and focuses on one cardiac program, service, or technology to support at Meridian Health. This year, the Women’s Philanthropic Fund will help Meridian Health purchase a STEMI Management Solution which provides emergency medical personnel a special electrocardiogram (EKG) feed directly to the emergency room to provide physicians and cardiologists at the hospital real time heart condition data even before the patient arrives at the hospital.

2008 Women’s Philanthropic Fund Events

2nd Annual Luncheon
The Women’s Philanthropic Fund held their 2nd Annual Luncheon on May 30, 2008 at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale. Chaired by Denise Puma, more than 100 women came together to learn about the latest information on women and heart disease. WPF Board Member, Victoria Pappalardo shared her personal story of a cardiac problem that arose while she was giving birth to her twins and the life saving treatment she experienced. In addition, Lisa Calabrese, RN, educated attendees on the latest Cardiac Emergency techniques and Beth Krengel, a registered dietitian at JSUMC, shared some heart-healthy nutritional tips. The 2nd Annual Luncheon helped net approximately $14,000 towards the purchase of a STEMI Management Solution for Meridian Health.
