Transforming Care: The New Jersey Shore
More than 100 years ago, Jersey Shore University Medical Center became a fixture of the community. Throughout our history, we have maintained a strong connection to people as we have grown from a community hospital into a regional teaching hospital. And we have entered another critical period in our shared history with our initiative Transforming Care – The New Jersey Shore. Following thoughtful planning, we have embarked on an expansion that combines the most advanced medicine with a design to create an exceptional patient experience.
A medical center's environment contributes greatly to the recovery and well-being of the patient as well as to the mindset and spirit of those who deliver the care. Inviting surroundings, private rooms, home-like furnishings, lots of soft and natural lighting create less stress and hassle for the patient, their family and friends.
Yet our Transformation goes beyond cosmetics. More technology at the patient's bedside facilitates information sharing and expedites care giving. Large operating rooms easily house the latest versions of robotic and other types of surgery. A new Emergency Department — double the size of the current ED — will assess patients quickly and place them in appropriate care settings.
Jersey Shore intends to deliver more comfortable, convenient and compassionate patient care through its Transformation initiative. Here are a few highlights and their expected completion dates for the new parking garage, diagnostic and treatment building, northwest pavilion, and clinical and outpatient areas.
