Rosa Diagnostic and Treatment Building

Completion Date: January 2009

New diagnostic and treatment building, located north of existing Mehandru Pavilion

  • Enhanced Surgical Services, including:

    • Pre-Op Holding: This area has been designed to provide privacy for our patients in 17 individual bays. A four bay section at the south end will be designated for pediatric patients. Each of the 17 bays will have a new TV entertainment system. This area was also designed to be a swing space with the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). It will be staffed by PACU nurses and be equipped with all the monitoring technology required for post-op surgical patients.

    • Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU): This area is designed in a more open environment for easier observation of the immediate post operative patient. There are 18 recovery bays including one isolation room and three larger bays with privacy walls for patients with extended stays. This section has grown our current 13 bays to 18 bays with the ability to swing into the pre-op holding area to accommodate fluctuations in capacity.

    • Operating Rooms: We have added six new state-of-the-art operating rooms to our existing 11 operating rooms. Four of the new operating rooms are 750 square feet, and two are over 900 square feet (as compared to our existing operating rooms at 400 to 500 square feet). These two large operating rooms give us the ability to equip these rooms with the latest technology. Two of the rooms will be dedicated cardiac surgery rooms and three will be orthopedic and general surgery rooms. Our sixth operating room will be completed in March 2009, and feature biplane digital imaging equipment. This room will allow surgeons and physicians from multiple specialties to work together performing both minimally invasive interventional procedures as well as open surgical procedures.

    • Support Spaces:

      • Large storage area

      • Large nurses’ station

      • Dedicated elevators to the Sterile Processing Department to support a case cart system

      • Office space for managers and the anesthesia team

      • Staff lounge

      • New Surgical Family Lounge – To be completed in July 2009

  • A new kitchen, dining area, and loading dock
