The Pain Institute at Jersey Shore University Medical Center
At some point, to some degree, everyone experiences pain. It can be sudden and agonizing, or dull and annoying. Either way, the discomfort can be enough to take over your life. Fortunately, there is help.
The Pain Institute at Jersey Shore University Medical Center is a comprehensive pain management center that evaluates and treats all types of pain. The Institute is directed by an attending anesthesiologist who has additional fellowship training in pain management and is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine.
During your first visit, a pain treatment specialist will conduct a complete medical evaluation of your pain. A treatment plan will then be designed to attempt to relieve your pain.
We monitor your treatment closely and make changes when necessary. We also provide routine reports to your referring and/or family physician in order to update him or her on your condition.

- Arthritis Pain
- Back and Neck Pains
- Cancer Pain
- Headaches
- Shingles
- Various types of Neuralgias
(Pain Due to Nerves Affected by Shingles, Diabetes, etc.)
- Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
- Trigger Point Pain
Treatment plans may include:
- Nerve Blocks
- Epidural Steroid Injections (Lumbar, Thoracic, Neck)
- Intra-articular Joint Injections
- Physical Therapy
- Stress Management
- Coping Skills Training
- Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
- Spinal Cord Stimulation
- Implantable (Intra-Spinal) Delivery Systems
