Radiation Oncology
The Radiation Oncology Department is accredited by the American College of Radiation Oncology and is composed of a multidisciplinary team of board-certified radiation oncologists, physicists, nurses, and radiation therapy technologists. The department uses a three-dimensional treatment plan involving CT (computerized tomography) guidance to target tumors and limit the exposure to normal surrounding organs and tissue. The department uses Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) to destroy cancer cells while minimizing complications and a respiratory gating system which adjusts to an individual's breathing patterns to ensure the treatment is delivered to a specific location.
