The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Steve Littleson, president of Jersey Shore University Medical Center, presents Mrs. Patricia M. Boyd with a plaque gratefully acknowledging her charitable gift annuity in support of the future of the medical center.

Mrs. Patricia Boyd has quite a history with Jersey Shore University Medical Center. She was born at Ann May Memorial Homeopathic Hospital, the predecessor to Jersey Shore. In the 1930s, the hospital — then known as Raleigh Fitkin– Paul Morgan Memorial Hospital — carried the name of her father, Paul Morgan. She was even a founding member of the Fitkin-Morgan Auxiliary.

You might not be surprised to hear that Mrs. Boyd has established a charitable gift annuity to benefit Jersey Shore. What may surprise you, though, is that a charitable gift annuity can benefit you too!

“I wasn’t looking for a way to be philanthropic, I’ll be honest with you,” states Mrs. Boyd. “But when I saw the numbers, I knew this was a good deal!” A charitable gift annuity to the Medical Center provides:

  • guaranteed income for life at attractive rates
  • tax savings that include a charitable deduction the first year
  • a partially tax-free payment in most cases, increasing each payment’s after-tax value
  • possible benefits from reduced probate costs and estate taxes.

that their gift helps to provide for the future of an important community resource. “Jersey Shore has such a rich history, and it has grown in many ways over the years,” says Mrs. Boyd. “Now I know that future generations of doctors and patients will continue to benefit from what Jersey Shore offers.”
