John K. Lloyd, FACHE

When it comes to heart attacks, it's important to get to the right hospital quickly. To me, that means you need to request to be brought to a Meridian Health hospital — Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Ocean Medical Center in Brick, or Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

All three medical centers have received national designations as Chest Pain Centers and are skilled at rapidly diagnosing heart disease. Our cardiology teams work closely together to ensure the highest standard of care — whether you need an emergency angioplasty at one of the three hospitals, or require transfer to Jersey Shore for heart surgery.

To learn more about our system-wide cardiac capabilities, I invite you to turn to page 19, where Jersey Shore's chief of Cardiology, J. Gordon Boak, M.D., explains your options in the event of a heart attack. You can also read about one of our patients who underwent an emergency angioplasty procedure at Ocean Medical Center on page 18.

It can be a real lifesaver to choose a Meridian Health hospital or a cardiologist affiliated with Meridian Health — we're one of the state's leaders in quality cardiac care. You can find a cardiologist very simply by visiting our Web site at MeridianHealth.com or by calling the Meridian Health Line at 1-800-560-9990.

Sincerely,

John K. Lloyd, FACHE
