Emergency Department

At Jersey Shore University Medical Center, we are committed to providing qualified, compassionate care with state-of-the-art technology and emergency services to our community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

As the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center is the trauma center for adults and children, providing expertise and specialty capabilities unavailable at any other hospital in Monmouth or Ocean County. Our team was responsible for the care and treatment of more than 1,600 patients last year alone. The center is specially equipped with state-of-the-art machines right at their fingertips. It is able to care for seriously injured patients through any disaster, while providing patients with a team of qualified, trained surgeons and specialists, 24/7.

Directions & Parking

Patients and guests can enter the medical center campus from Route 33, following easy access from the Garden State Parkway or Routes 18, 34 and 35. For most outpatient services, you should drive around the loop road to the other side of the hospital. You can also access valet parking, directly, at the Amdur Ambulatory Care Center entrance on the east side of the campus. This is also where registration is located. If you have pre-registered, you will also check in at this location and can quickly go to your destination in the hospital.

Patients and guests may also take advantage of our Free Valet Parking service, available at the entrances to the Emergency Department, Amdur Outpatient Center, Northwest Pavilion and the Brennan Building.

Our facility is easily accessible via major highways as well as public transportation.

What to Expect

The major goal of the emergency department at Jersey Shore University Medical Center is to reduce wait times. We want to get patients right from the door to an available bed, with no wait time in between. With the addition of 108 private rooms located above the new emergency room in the Northwest Pavilion, this helps to free up emergency room beds strictly for emergency room patients. The more free beds, the less time patients have to wait.

Our patient friendly emergency department has everything that our physicians need to alleviate patient wait times; Access to CAT scan and X-rays right in the department; portable communication channels (portable tablets).

Helipad – The Jersey Shore trauma center is now configured so that elevators go straight up to the rooftop helipad, and can be brought straight down to the trauma unit.
